"The Capitol"

$2,000.00

2024, Medium: Graphite on Paper

The budding trees, the bundled pedestrians, along with the early lighting of the lamps depict a crisp early spring day approaching dusk in Washington DC.

The Capitol’s first architect was Dr. William Thornton in 1793, and was rebuilt after the War of 1812 by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. The completion of its iconic dome can be attributed to Charles Bulfinch, later redesigned to it’s current form by Thomas U. Walter in the 1850-1860s.
